Acid Jazz
The combination of jazz, soul, funk, hip hop and breaks, with both acoustic and electronic elements can describe "Acid Jazz". Often heavy on the funk, retro and 70s pop/soul feel, acid jazz is generally dance oriented featuring medium tempos.
Few rules apply, with instrumentation very flexible using anything from Latin-style percussion, jazz or funk guitar, smooth bass (no pops or slaps) to horns (brass and woodwinds) and keyboards. Also sampling and looping exist side by side with live improvisation.
