New Age Jazz
Although this category may seem to be an oxymoron, there are many jazz musicians that have experimented with the textures, colors and moods of what is known as “New Age”. Music.
The term literally describes a music for a new age that can, among other things, promote the use of Asian healing arts, the power of meditation and generally an acceptance of mysticism.
The category of "World Jazz" (see Genres) embodies some of the same cultural
viewpoints, but is generally more rhythm-driven.
